i knew my parents believed in god and the bible, so i was sure i'd be able to convince them with a few simple verses that we had the truth.
but no, they didn't seem convinced enough to want to study.

I was a witness for 26 years, and I never go anyone to come in the Borg. I even auxillery and regular pioneered, and not even my 3 children took to it. I am sooooo glad now, that I never got a convert.
The people didn't want to be controlled, or lose their family by not celebrating holidays, birthdays.. Most, I guess might not have wanted all the study.. service, etc.. But probably the biggest reason might be, that they didn't want to be 'governed'. What do you think?

I still believe like you.. except.. I have recently been thinking that the ressurection in the last day, has to do with people becoming enlightened. In Dan. 12:1 and on.. It talks about the ones sleeping in the dust, as awaking to everlasting life or to everlasting abhorrence.... Some will become like stars and lead many to righteousness. This appears to take place in the Great Trib. as the context points out. I'm not sure how the dead will come back.. Do you think they could be reincarnated? I've been wondering.
I really think that the core beliefs of the WT, in Russell's day, are the things I was so attracted to, and not the endless rules and bossiness of the WT since Rutherford.
To me, Charles Russell could have been a Faithful and Discreet Slave, but since he died, the WT is only the Evil slave.. What do you think???

why is it that some dubs leave the wts with little harm done to them while others feel they have suffered great or even irreversible harm?
i suppose the length of time one has been in plays a part the longer one stayed in and the more one invested in the org the worse the sense of loss since after leaving everything laboured for is cruelly written off.
also leaving behind family members will be more difficult than for one who had no jw family or friends.

Good thought.. I think it's vital for a person to make sure he understands completely that the Wt is not God's channel. I also think it's vital to make sure in your mind, everyday, as it's process, where one keeps slipping back into the brainwashing. I was in and very active for 26 years.. So, I had to keep reaffirming the reasons, over and over.

does the "sevens" mean weeks or 7 years.

Hmmm.... I think the 'seven' or week in 7 years.. because Daniel 12...and Rev.12 talk about 2 periods of 3 1/2 years each.. or 7 years... So in comparing.. I do think it would be a parallel acount..

This scripture makes me think that the 'sons of light' will not be in darkness.. and caught off guard as of his coming.. But would see the signs before hand..
Interestingly.. the evil slave (whom I think is probably the witnesses and maybe most of organized christian religion) in Math. 24:50 doesn't have a clue as to the arrival of the Christ.
